2018 recap
Reflecting on the year that was
By Paley Ho
2017 was the year we introduced our guiding principle of "universal light" to the world. With this concept, came a commitment for 2018 - to live by this mantra in everything we do. Our philosophy of universal light would consist of four guiding principles; education, projects, tools and community, and follow us through the year with consistency and promise.
Our mantra of universal light was in everything we touched; from the products we designed to the resources we shared. It was from this concept, we would provide universal applications accompanied by greater education. Embarking on this journey of learning, we aimed to share our understanding of light to the industry at large and in doing so, build the brand of Unios.

We soon made this vision a reality with the launch of Universal Light. Lighting was changing, as was our expectations from it. We sought leading experts in the field to shed new light on trends and technologies. This information would provide insight into what the future of lighting looks like and gain a higher understanding of our needs from light. Universal Light went beyond the light and presented a more human way of thinking, one that took into account what makes us who we are – from our emotional and physiological needs.
Our thoughts and ideas were quickly shifting to become one universal notion. Universal Light, Unios Toolbox and our range of projects were extending to all internal and external partners of Unios.
What better way could we expand on this mantra of 'universal light' with projects that called for versatility? The launch of our 2019 products presented a promise: adaptable ranges that could extend across a number of project applications. We exemplified that as we continue to grow, so does our luminaires. Our 2018 projects showcased the strength of the concept of universal light - one that can meet the individual demands of each application.

Complementing this universal concept, we meet the Unios Toolbox, which entirely revolutionised the way our clients specify lighting. It was the synchronised and simplified platform that our market had been missing. Unios Toolbox filled the void and made configuring and specifying more accessible for all projects. As we aimed to be at the forefront of technology adoption in the specification market, the platform was the first of many steps to making the specification process more streamlined than ever. We observed the shift towards a more digital-focused design and specification process and adapted to meet the needs of the market - providing a solution to the problem.
Our thoughts and ideas were quickly shifting to become one universal notion. Universal Light, Unios Toolbox and our range of projects were extending to all internal and external partners of Unios. The market was pursuing new conversations surrounding light and Unios was presenting the new knowledge and answers. We are creating a community; one that will share our passion for light and its role in our day to day lives.

2018 was the year Unios would expand, in every sense of the word; from products to projects, to reach and community. We would position ourselves as an educator and trusted advisor, presenting solutions to the built environment. 2018 was not only a year of commitment to 'universal light' but also a promise; to expand on the exciting world of light.
